Spicin’ up your peach this weekend.

Happy Friday, fellas! I have the next 4 days off at work (labor cuts, gotta love ’em) so I’m rocking and rolling through recipes and hopefully a lot of time outside. Though I’ll probably reach for an afternoon latte, for the sake of this writeup I’ll claim to be lounging poolside with a cold cocktail in hand.
If that’s your vibe, please give this Spicy Serrano Peach Paloma a try. Sweet, spicy, and zesty, this refreshing classic tequila sipper is given a boost with hot peppers and sweet pureed peach. It brightens up the mood for both sunny afternoons and rainy evenings, and is perfect for clinking your glass with a friend or enjoying a mellow time on your own.
Sound peachy to you?

Serious Serranos
For most of my peach-themed cocktails, I prefer to utilize peach puree for the flavor, or sometimes peach jam. We’re reaching for the former today.
First, toss a can of drained peaches into a food processor or blender and whiz up until smooth. I buy cling peaches in water (usually sweetened with Splenda or another artificial sugar, which is kinda unavoidable with most brands). Avoid peaches in heavy syrup. Bleh.
Sidebar: Before you start mixing, you can rim your glass like I did if you want a little sparkle. Brush the rim of your favorite drinking vessel with honey. Toss some coarse sugar with lime zest, then dip your glass into the sugar and swirl around until coated. Gently shake off excess back onto the plate.

Measure some of the puree into a cocktail shaker along with a few basil leaves, lime juice, and honey or agave. Muddle until the basil is nicely squished.
Then, add your tequila, grapefruit juice, and serrano. I squeeze a big fat grapefruit fresh but you can buy a good brand like Simply. Fill the shaker with ice and shimmy it up aggressively until your drink is cold.

Strain into your prepared glass and add more ice. Top off with a big splash of peach sparkling water (grapefruit is good, too!) and garnish with peach slices and extra basil leaves.
No real notes for this recipe, but always feel free to ask questions if you’d like. Cheers and enjoy the weekend!
