Happy National Martini Day!

Aaaaand…happy Friday! I’m very disoriented. I was eyeing one of my pill packs this morning and panicked because I thought I missed a day. Turns out, it was Thursday, not Friday. I haven’t worked all week so, despite being busy and distracted by eyeing my phone for updates on my car, I’m very lost and blurred out by the passing of time.
But, it is assuredly Friday, and I vote bottoms up with a spunky Hot Peach Martini. I’ll be finding a sip of my own somewhere near the resort we’re staying, but if you’re at home relaxing with a cocktail at your fist, I recommend trying this one out.
He’s peachy keen, fresh, and a little sassy thanks to a splash of hot honey. Just as a summer Friday should be.

Peach Fuzz
This little dude is flavored with both peach puree and peach liqueur. I like buying peche de vigne, but if that’s harder to come by, a good bottle of peach schnapps is apt for the job.
For the puree, a drained can of peaches whizzed in the food processor does the trick. You will end up with more peach puree than you need for one drink, and it will keep fine for up to a week in the fridge. I actually made a banging vinaigrette out of the leftovers for a recipe I’ll share at some point this summer.

Anywho. Hot honey. I’m on a hot honey kick so this is likely not the first time you’ve seen my formula crop up, but if it is, this is how it’s done. Microwave honey, hot sauce – I like Frank’s or Chilula – garlic and onion powders, cayenne pepper, and red paper flakes. Just for a minute to incorporate all the components.
Time to mixy mixy! Combine vodka with your peach liqueur, peach puree, hot honey, and a kiss of lemon juice. Shake with ice until cold, then strain into a nice coupe glass.

For garnish, I like a few peach slices skewered onto a pick and a basil leaf. I don’t normally balance the basil so precariously on the glass, I’m much more practical when I’m enjoying the drink I styled. Just FYI. His position of power atop the peach slice was merely for aesthetic.

Can’t take the heat? Stay out of the bar cart. Just kidding. You can sweeten the drink with regular honey if hot honey ain’t your thing.

Bottoms up, friends! But DRIVE SAFELY DO NOT GET BEHIND THE WHEEL IF YOURE DROWSY, DRUNK, OR DISTRACTED.
