strawberry frosé

I’m back, suckers, with a beautiful and refreshing frozen cocktail for all of your weekend adventures.

I’ve wanted to do a frozen cocktail for awhile, but they’re really stupid to work with and I couldn’t think of a concept for which I was willing to sacrifice my sanity. In this weather, frozen shit melts like the dickens the minute it’s exposed to normal air. Definitely learned my lesson in that regard with a set of ice cream sandwiches that made me cry three times before I gave up and flung my energy into the much more successful Peach Melba Ice Cream Loaf Cake.

Bring on this Strawberry Frosé. Really easy, gorgeous to behold, and just boozy enough for palatal interest without overpowering. I think this would be a lovely dessert sip, or something to pair with ceviche or a slew of other summery appetizers. Only a few ingredients and a good blender required.

Oh, speaking of blender, fun fact. Last Saturday my hungry-ass self opened the entire lid of the blender while it was churning and stuck the baton thing straight to the bottom. My smoothie was warped into a weapon thereafter. The whole bottom was torn to shards and now I have a usable but obnoxious stick (tamper, it’s called a tamper) into which liquids shimmy right up in the center of the contraption. Learn it from me, kids. Do not handle appliances when you’re half away.

Got that off my chest, now it’s cocktail time.

Frosty, the Rosé

This drink is effortless. Measure, pour, blend, pour, serve. I love a touch of Cointreau mixed with the rosé for a citrusy flare that compliments the wine.

A rimmed glass is optional, but I’m into that style, so I mixed up some sugar with lime zest to decorate my barware.

Simply combine frozen strawberries (frozen is key here, else you’ll have a weird half melted looking glass in front of you. Sad), chilled rosé wine, the Cointreau, some honey for a bit of extra sweetness, and a bit of ice. Blend it up nice and smooth. This comfortably makes 4 servings or 2 big honkers, so divide them into glasses as you will. I stick a little strawberry and some mint on top because it looks cute.

Yup, that’s all. Now you have a lovely drink to enjoy on a balls hot weekend.

What are you all up to this weekend? I’ve no real plans, just normal promises that I won’t keep about cleaning up the house and all that shit. Oh, but tomorrow I’m blasting off this week’s meal plan, and hopefully you were all on board with today’s “7 Secrets to Summer Entertaining”! It’s a good one if you’re planning to throw a party before the madness of school returns.

I will indeed be trying this ASAP. I have a bottle of rosé given to me as a hostess gift that I was going to simply RE-gift. I now have reason to keep and appreciate it. Thank you! It’s hotter than blue blazes here in the Midwest, and I just froze a buttload of fresh strawberries. This sounds like a winner!
