strawberries and cream martini
Dunno what’s gotten into me but I’ve been loving martinis lately.

Maybe it’s the ease of creation, the lesser liquid volume, the abundance of simple garnishes available for each variety – whatever the case, coupe glasses are It right now. I never much order them when I’m out at restaurants, but perhaps that trend is erring on the opposite end of the spectrum.
Drinks served in narrow-stemmed glasses boast a certain elegance, too, that is appropriate to the upcoming kissy kissy day. Perhaps it’s a Bond girl-esque mental image that inspires the association. Glosst hair, long nails, a deeply-plunging dress. Posh and pretty.
This Strawberries and Cream Martini invites light conversation and deep connection, whether you’re sharing it with your boo, with friends, or just yourself. Slow sips and self reflection are certainly a valid use for a weekend. A white chocolate rim dazzles the presentation and lends a fun little spark to the simple, creamy body.
Plus, with strawberries quickly coming into season, it’s a good use for the bulk of fruit you might be gathering in your drawer. Unless it’s just me who’s hoarding berries…

Strawberries and Dream
First step of our cocktail is a homemade strawberry syrup. Easy stuff. Stir some chopped berries, sugar, and water in a small saucepan, heat gently for 10-15 minutes while mashing the fruit occasionally to release the flavor and color, then strain into a jar or airtight container. Leftover syrup keeps for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

Next, grab some white chocolate (use good quality here, not those weird white baking chips because that shit don’t melt, homies), toss the morsels into a shallow bowl, and microwave for 1 minute. Stir, then heat 20-30 seconds longer until completely desolidified.
Liquefied? Whatever.

Dip and swirl the rim of a coupe glass into the chocolate, letting excess drip back into the bowl. So purdy.
Mix up your drink! In a shaker, combine vanilla vodka, some of the syrup, white chocolate liqueur, heavy cream, and a drop (seriously, no more than a drop) of red or pink food dye. Add ice and shake until cold, then strain into your lovely glass. Garnish with a strawberry slice for an extra little kiss of joy.
That’s all I got today! Enjoy your weekend, stay warm, and find small comforts wherever you can!
