peach bourbon sour
I am so ready for fall but I will lament the departure of peaches.

En route home from our trip to Savannah we stopped at Georgia Peach World. If you’ve never visited, boy, are you in for a treat! The storefront is not that big but it is absolute peach heaven if you’re as obsessed with the booty (fruit) as I am.
There’s two Georgia Peach World locations, one off an 80s exit and the other off a 50s exit. Out front boasted a tent laden with baskets of fresh, plump Georgia peaches, and inside the building? Peach everything. I sampled peach cider and a slew of peach jams, butters, nut butters infused with peach; the shelves are lined with various fruit butters, peach vinaigrettes, and several of peachy liquors.
This may have been the most cheerful stop on our whole trip.
I bought a huge jar of peach jam and a jar of peach amaretto butter, seriously one of the best things I’ve tasted. I could’ve gone apeshit in that place.
Peach season will soon close out, but we’ve still got time, friends! This Peach Bourbon Sour celebrates the bounty of the season with total simplicity. Only a few ingredients and a lovely, fruity finish that isn’t too sweet. Kick back with a glass on these lazy, hazy, long last summer days.

Nothing Sour About Peaches
This drink takes five minutes to make, and is just so lovely for us bourbon bros out there.

First note: the peach puree. I like to buy a can of peaches to use for the puree, as it blitzes up more smoothly than fresh. HOWEVER, fresh peaches are great and I will not criticize you for it. That’d be stupid. If you’re using a fresh peach, peel the skin, remove the pit, and puree until smooth. You may need a little bit of water to get the right texture.
Now, prep your cocktail!

Grab your favorite rocks glass. Stir in bourbon or whiskey, lemon juice, and a touch of honey. Fill the glass about halfway with crushed ice – you can use regular cubes as well, but I love crushed ice in my sours – then measure on your peach puree. Give everything a good stir and fill the rest of the glass with more ice.
Garnish with fresh peach slices, as many as you wish, and a couple sprigs of fresh mint. Delish, simple, and light. Doesn’t get much better than that!
