hot honey paloma
Hot honey for hot as balls August.

Friday! We made it! That means treat yoself, and for some of ya’ll, that might mean a nice happy hour cocktail at home. Our evenings of late are rainy and blustery and certainly warrant something refreshing on the couch or porch, sipping while watching the droplets cluster on the roads.
This Hot Honey Paloma is an easy twist on one of my favorite classic cocktails. Tequila, grapefruit, and lime meet a dab of my homemade hot honey for a spicy little ass-kicking that isn’t so hard it’ll leave a bruise. Add a few mint leaves and grapefruit wedges for a fancy looking glass.
A nice bonus? The hot honey recipe I provide makes more than you’ll need for one drink, and you can save what remains for any other of my hot honey specialties. Yay, leftovers!

Honey-Do Make Hot Honey
You can make hot honey either on the stovetop or in the microwave. I usually go microwave because I’m lazy.
In a heat-safe bowl, combine honey, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and red pepper flakes. Heat on high for 1 minute, then remove your bowl, stir, and heat an additional 20-30 seconds or so until the granules dissolve. Unused hot honey will keep, stored in an airtight container, for up to 2 weeks in the fridge.

I love a good tajin rim on this paloma. If you’d like to replicate, brush a little honey on the rim of a cocktail glass, toss some tajin onto a shallow bowl, and dip and swirl your glass into the granules until coated. Using honey works way better than citrus juice for rimming a glass, by the way. Trick I picked up recently.
In a cocktail shaker, combine some of the hot honey with tequila, grapefruit juice (I prefer fresh from a squeezed fruit, but a good brand of bottled is just fine, too), and lime juice. Shake with ice until cold and pour into your fancy pants glass.

Top off with sparkling water or grapefruit soda and garnish as you’d like!
Easy weekend mixing and easy weekend reading. Ya’ll know I don’t like to bore you with long narratives on a Friday. Who wants to sift through that bullshit?
Enjoy!

Well, these are dangerous. Nobody can drink just one. Kindof like Lays potato chips – which I put in your cookie recipe!

I agree! Glad you enjoyed it and YES potato chips in cookies are also a dangerous discovery once you make it 😀
