earl grey lavender vodka palmer
Brightening up the weekend with Earl Grey Lavender Vodka Lemonade. The least involved cocktail of all cocktails, because sometimes you just don’t feel like breaking out the muddler and feeling like a true-bred bartender.
I’m not sure why, but my opinion of earl grey versus lady grey teas is quite polar opposite. Earl grey is bold yet drinkable – lady grey is just weird. My description isn’t very pristine nor is it convincing, probably, but I’m just not a fan of the flavors put forth by earl’s wife. Not my thing.
Kind of a small wonder, then, that lady grey recipes are rather sparse, but earl grey ones swim in pools across the Internet.
The night of this cocktail’s birth, J stood out by the grills toiling over a whole red snapper and some skewered vegetables while I remained indoors mulling over my styling table and prop selection. Much as I hate summer, the trope of barbecuing and enjoying a cooling beverage or treat all the while – hello, No Churn Salted Caramel Brownie Ice Cream – appeals to my slow soul. I enjoy more when we stoke the coals on our toolbox charcoal grill and camp out in the open garage, Phish albums singing out of the speaker, since we’ve more privacy than at the gas grills occupying the pool.
Earl Grey Lavender Vodka Lemonade is a lovely grilling companion, even a cocktail you can shake right by the pool without lugging a big cart of shit to the deck. The drink marries a British Arnold Palmer with vodka, hence the name.
If you’re staying inside and avoiding the flames, why not roast some Sheetpan Sticky Honey Jalapeno Shrimp Tacos to pair with the palmer?
Far as dessert goes, a Simple Blueberry Swirled Lemon Custard Tart finishes the meal with a tangy bangy.
Alright, I’m never saying that again.
